Three KIPP Eastern North Carolina alumni have been selected to participate in KIPP’s national Alumni Leadership Accelerator, a fast-track, early-career program for alumni who have demonstrated extraordinary vision, drive, ambition, and leadership in their workplaces and communities.
The three KIPP ENC alumni who have been selected to join this exclusive program are:
- Anastasia Jones: Pride of 2011, alumna of University of Pennsylvania, Financial Analyst at JP Morgan
- Calvon Jones: Pride of 2011, alumnus of Morehouse College, Master of Divinity Candidate at Yale University, Founder and CEO of Calvon Jones Ministries
- Charles Taylor: Pride of 2011, alumnus of Duke University, Program Manager at Microsoft
The Alumni Leadership Accelerator provides a small cohort of KIPP alumni from across the country with personalized, one-on-one executive leadership coaching, as well as ongoing networking and mentorship opportunities and peer support.
“We’re working to create pathways for our top alumni to accelerate their career trajectory,” said Stephen Cockrell, KIPP’s national Director of External Impact, who oversees the program. “We want our fellows to ascend to the highest levels of leadership so they can have an outsized impact on the world.”
This is the second year of this national program. Two KIPP ENC alumni — Victoria Bennett from the Pride of 2009 and Derrick Bennett from the Pride of 2010 — were selected for the inaugural cohort. Victoria is an alumna of UNC Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University School of Law. She is a contracts manager and negotiator at the corporate office of Advance Auto Parts and serves on KIPP ENC’s Board of Directors. Derrick is an alumnus of UNC Chapel Hill and East Carolina College of Business and works as a financial bank examiner for North Carolina’s Office of the Commissioner of Banks. He also serves on the finance committee for KIPP ENC’s Board of Directors.
