KIPP ENC Welcomes New President, Trena Drayton

TrenaWe are thrilled to announce that Trena Drayton has joined our team as President of KIPP Eastern North Carolina. In this role, Trena will lead all business operations; financial, talent, and operations management; real estate development; human resources, growth strategy, and legal affairs.

Trena joins KIPP ENC with several decades of experience. Most recently, she has played significant roles as a higher education administer in the areas of finance, asset and facilities management, general operations, and the student experience at both Howard University and New York University, where she was the deputy Chief Financial Officer and the Assistant Dean of Finance, Operations, Facilities, and Human Resources respectively. Prior to joining the non-profit sector, she led due diligence and investment efforts and implemented data-driven recommendations across a variety of industries and in several capacities. She began her career at JP Morgan as an audit and risk analyst managing projects in the Asia Pacific region before relocating to London as a high-yield research analyst for UBS. She returned to the investment space as an associate at a middle-market private equity fund focused on distressed turnarounds after serving as an advisor on real estate and economic development projects throughout New Jersey and North Carolina.

Her most recent role was with Corvias as a Vice President of Partnership Development working with universities and colleges to remedy their deferred maintenance, infrastructure, and facilities concerns. She holds a BS in accounting from Hampton University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. She is also a board member for the McColl Center for Art + Innovation and was a founding board member for Success Academy Charter Schools in New York.
