Each year, Jay Mathews at the Washington Post releases his list of America’s Most Challenging High Schools. This list ranks schools through an index formula that’s a simple ratio: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year.
Per the 2017 list, KIPP Gaston College Prep Pride High School ranks 6th in the state of North Carolina and 201st across the country. This is an impressive feat and reflects the school’s focus on ensuring that each and every student experiences the rigor of college coursework by taking at least two Advanced Placement classes before they graduate.
Congratulations to the entire KIPP GCP Pride High School team for setting high expectations for all students and to the students themselves who rise to the challenge and exceed expectations each year.
